ScotShot LLC - NRA Certified Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor.
This is a National Rifle Association accredited and certificated course, and it runs over two days.

This is not a scheduled class. We will be happy to run it for a minimum of four Instructor Candidates, at your facility.

NRA Certified Instructor training is designed for experienced, skilled shooters who are committed to passing on the correct Knowledge, Skills and Attitude to individuals who are motivated to seek firearms training. The courses teach Instructor Candidates the NRA instruction method of "Total Participant Involvement" (T.P.I.), with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and student development.

Upon achieving a passing grade (90% or higher) in the final Instructor Candidate examination, and with the recommendation of the Training Counselor leading the course, candidates will communicate with NRA directly on-line and pay the NRA fee for issuing the certification. This fee is not included in the ScotShot fee(s).

To enter this course you must have completed NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home as a student, with a minimum 90% on the student exam. You must also be a current NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. You should also have taken and passed the Basic Instructor Training (B.I.T., see below) module within the last two years. The class requires a minimum of four Instructor Candidates to run.

Please note that we will not be running a B.I.T. module in conjunction with this class. Your B.I.T. needs to be current (ie, obtained within the last two years). ScotShot LLC requires all Instructor Candidates to refresh themselves by resitting the B.I.T. examination at the beginning of the PPIH Instructor class.

NRA Certified PPIH Instructors are able to qualify students in the NRA "Basics of Personal Protection Inside the Home (PPIH) course. Instructor Candidates use mock class presentations and teaching scenario role-playing to acquire the skills necessary to teach the various aspects of the PPIH student class, including safe gun handling, defensive mindset, the will to prevail, making an emergency plan, how to integrate a handgun into this plan, how to use cover and concealment, how to summon and talk to police, how to work with police upon their arrival and the likely legal aftermath of use of lethal force in a life-protecting situation. Instructor Candidates also learn how to recruit a suitable individual to teach the lesson on the law regarding use of letal force in self-defense in New Jersey. On the range, Instructor Candidates learn how to set up the range for the PPIH course of fire, and use the "Coach and Pupil" method to tutor one another through this. Upon returning to the classroom, we discuss how students can build upon and improve their skills, and discuss additional awareness concepts. We conclude the course with the Instructor Candidate examination.

Thank you for choosing ScotShot for your firearms training - see you on the range!
