ScotShot LLC - NRA Home Firearm Safety.
This is a National Rifle Association accredited and certificated course.
WHAT THIS COURSE IS FOR
NRA Home Firearm Safety provides non-shooting members of a family, club or society with a comprehensive introduction to the various types of Pistols, Rifles and Shotguns, how to handle and store them safely in the home, how to determine that they are not loaded and how to unload them if necessary. This is an excellent course to help overcome natural apprehension about the introduction of a firearm to the home. The course also discusses how to introduce and reinforce firearm safety with minor children.
WHAT THIS COURSE CONTAINS
NRA Home Firearm Safety is a 4 hour classroom class. There is no range time or shooting in this course. The course begins with a discussion of the causes of gun accidents, how these can be overcome by application of the basics of firearm safety and introduces the three rules for safe gun handling and storage at home. We continue by introducing pistols, rifles and shotguns and defining their various parts. Then we unload each type in turn. We also discuss the appearance, parts and function of ammunition for pistols, rifles and shotguns. This course conduced entirely in the classroom. There is no live-fire. It is partly discussion and demonstration and partly practical exercise, "hands-on" with the various firearm types. Non-firing, demonstration "ammunition" is used throughout.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
This is a beginner-level course, suitable for people who may never have handled a firearm before. It can be taken by adults and supervised older children, and we encourage parents and children over 12 to take the course together. The only things you need to bring are a willingness to learn and desire to succeed. Please do not bring a firearm or ammunition to the class - if you would like an orientation with your own, new firearm, please consider our ScotShot Handgun-I course, or taking a private lesson.
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
We provide all training materials, firearms, non-firing demonstration ammunition, classroom facilities, coffee, and snacks. At the end of the course, we conduct a short diagnostic review and issue a Certificate of Training. Most of all, you'll take away a great experience, a working knowledge of pistols, rifles and shotguns, and how to handle and store them safely in your home.
Thank you for choosing ScotShot for your firearms training - see you in class!
