WHAT THIS COURSE IS FOR
ScotShot First Shots with Firearms © is an introduction to safely handling and firing the three basic types of firearm, handguns, rifles and shotguns. It is the ideal follow-on to the NRA Home Firearm Safety class that we also offer, and these courses can be taken as a pair.This an fun-and-foundation-level class for the three major firearm types that introduces the Knowledge, Skills and Attitude to allow the beginning shooter to safely store, transport, handle and shoot firearms. The focus is on safe gun handling and the fundamentals of shooting, and experiencing all three types of firearm.
WHAT THIS COURSE CONTAINS
ScotShot First Shots with Firearms is a brief introduction to handling and shooting live firearms on the range. You will get the opportunity to fire revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles, and shotguns. We start with small-caliber (0.22) cartridges offering the minimum recoil and have larger caliber guns available, that can be tried.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
This is a foundation-level course, designed specifically for people who have never handled a firearm before. It can be taken by adults and supervised older children, and we encourage parents and children over 12 to take the course together. The only things you need to bring are a willingness to learn and desire to succeed. Please do not bring a firearm or ammunition to the class - we will provide everything that is required.
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
We provide all training materials, firearms, ammunition, and classroom and range facilities. At the end of the course, we issue a Certificate of Participation. Most of all, you'll take away a great experience, a working knowledge of pistols, rifles and shotguns, and how to fire them safely at the range.
